Turkish dam

Does anyone have any information, or know where to find it, on the
Turkish dam which is apparently taking up to 60p.c. of the water
from the Euphrates? It also affects Syria badly.

It would be interesting to know who funded it.

What safety procedures are in place in case of earthquake, bombing
or other catastrophy which could damage the dam and cause serious
loss of life?

With Iraq suffering from food shortages, the ability to grow their
own food is now impared seriously. Far in the south the date
orchards are seriously affected. The existing rivers are now
becoming poluted because of concentrations of minerals.

Any info would be welcome.
Valerie Jabir.
