Dear Sir/Madam, As Mark Parkinson, of Bodmin, Cornwall, has pointed out, the "shattered health system", in Iraq, far from being co-incidental, is, to a very great extent, the direct result of US & UK governments actions. The UNICEF program may be helpful, but, instead of putting a gloss on this story, why not be truthful & face up to the full facts, i.e. that there is culpability here, namely that one of the parties guilty of deaths & illnesses, on a massive scale, has, for years, been the British government! Sincerely, Bert Gedin, Birmingham, UK. >From: "Mark Parkinson" <mark44@myrealbox.com> >To: newsonline.complaints@bbc.co.uk >Subject: [casi] Polio campaign launched in Iraq >Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2003 03:40:49 -0000 > > > > > > > > >http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/2774951.stm > >I am glad that this story is being carried but I am disappointed that the >culpability of the >US/UK is carefully edited out. > >The 'shattered health system' is a deliberate policy achieved by our >governments >through the Gulf War and the sanctions. > >Of course, at a time when Tony Blair is seeking to point the blame at >Saddam Hussein >and demonise him, it would be very inconvenient if you carried a story >which in any way >hinted at the true cause of the suffering in Iraq and the exodus of many of >its people. > >Mark Parkinson >Bodmin >Cornwall > > > >_______________________________________________ >Sent via the discussion list of the Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq. >To unsubscribe, visit >http://lists.casi.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/casi-discuss >To contact the list manager, email casi-discuss-admin@lists.casi.org.uk >All postings are archived on CASI's website: http://www.casi.org.uk _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool emoticons http://messenger.msn.co.uk _______________________________________________ Sent via the discussion list of the Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq.
