An interesting article by Rael, the leader of Raelian Movement, www.rael.org MONOTHEISTIC RELIGIONS ARE DANGEROUS AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GREATEST CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY After the tragedy of the terrorist attack in New York, it is important to understand why such things can happen. It is important to go back to the root of this evil and not just be satisfied with simplified answers which don't disturb anyone, answers that are "politically correct" but will only perpetuate the problem. Acts of violence and military retribution will not solve the problem but will beget more hatred, more desperate people, and more violence thus creating a truly vicious cycle of terror. Where do these violent acts come from and why are there men ready to carry them out? Only a fair and lucid understanding of the roots of the problem will allow an answer. What makes men, with red turbans around their head, ready to fly a Boeing 767 to a building head on in this tragic suicide that took the lives of thousands of people? I watched on TV with a lot of compassion Americans saying "it is time to pray to God who is with us in these tragic moments". Why is it that this Almighty and omnipotent "God" is with Americans to comfort them? Where was He during the tragedy? Why did He not prevent it from happening? If He is Almighty and omnipotent He could have prevented such a tragedy but He did not, which is quite sadistic and sanguinary. Or it's evidence that He is not Almighty. or that He simply does not exist! On the one hand, we have mad men in complete mystical delirium flying an airplane against a building filled with people while shouting: "God is Great" and dedicating their crime to Him and, on the other hand, we have people who are praying to this same imaginary God to try to forget the suffering of they are the victims of. But the real danger is undoubtedly this belief in an "Almighty" God who does absolutely nothing either for or against humans... He does nothing to destroy buildings nor does he need people who believe in Him to fly suicide airplanes, and does nothing to stop these suicide airplanes and protect the innocent victims who then pray to Him with the conviction that He is "by their side"... It has always been this way. Armies on each side of the battlefield have all pretended that "God was with them"... The truth of the matter is that this belief in a single and Almighty God is the very cause of the greatest tragedies that Humanity has known. From the colonization of Europe by Muslims, through the crusades, the wars of religion, the Inquisition, Nazism, up until today with the wars between Pakistan and India, Cypress, Ireland, Kosovo, the Middle East, everywhere, it's always in the name of an Almighty God that people tear each other to pieces and kill one another. The root of evil is in the very belief in this God described sometimes cynically as a "merciful and loving God" especially in the writings that we attribute to Him but were always, of course, written by men who, through the Ages, distorted these writings according to their prejudices and own interests. Whether it is the Bible, the Gospel, or the Koran, all these sacred books spread hatred, intolerance, and encourage violence and barbarism. While we reflect on the possible causes of the tragedy in New York, wondering how someone could have committed such atrocities, there are children who are taught fanaticism and intolerance in schools that teach them about monotheistic religions. All the religious books and traditions that surround them contain these words encouraging violence and fanaticism. "An eye for an eye", in the beginning monotheism announced the color . followed with the request to Abraham to sacrifice his own son by cutting his throat with a knife, thus complying with submission to this "God of love". "If your right hand sins, cut it off". "the one who looks back will turn into a salt statue" etc.., the examples are innumerable. The Jewish writings that tell Jews not to marry with non-Jews is also an example. And the fact of being automatically granted the Israeli nationality today if you are a Jew whereas it's impossible if you are not. This is another example that leads to ethnic cleansing with the Palestinians. As for the Muslims, these writings are the worst since they clearly encourage violence toward non-Muslims and women are considered "inferior". For instance, the Koran asks Muslims to kill or abduct all those who refuse to become members of their belief. This is the precise and official text given by their "prophet": The Immunity [9.5] So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Islam officially encourages racism and discrimination which is contrary the Human Rights and democratic laws: The Dinner Table [5.51] O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. Finally, also considered against Human Rights and against the right to Democracy, Islam demands that their followers engage in domestic violence using the excuse that men are superior to women! Here is there official text: The Women [4.34] Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; Is it acceptable for whatever religion to officially encourage three actions that are contrary to Human Rights and to Laws of Democracy: encouraging murder, racial discrimination, and domestic violence? Surely if a New Age "cult" advocated these same things, its head would most likely be thrown in jail... Mystico-religious delirium does not give the right to not respect Laws of democratic countries and Human Rights. The only solution, as I have sought after for more than 20 years, is for all the old and new religious texts from traditional religions and religious minorities to be censored so as to expurgate from them all writings that do not respect Human Rights and Laws of democratic countries or encourage hatred and violence. But more importantly, such texts must no longer be taught to children! Because the fact is that while the world cries over the victims of Manhattan, there are children who are receiving a religious education that will turn them into the terrorists of tomorrow who will in turn create new strife among different religious schools. At the dawn of this new era that will make this Earth a paradise, thanks to science, it is time to permanently destroy or at least silence, through a firm and rigorous censure, any ideology that encourages hatred and violence. All the "politically correct" condemnations of terrorism will not change anything if they do not tackle the problem at its very root i.e. eliminate or censure monotheistic religious teachings that always lead to fanaticism. At the same time, thanks to new technologies, we can seriously expect revolutions in our way of life such as: healing all the diseases and feeding the entire planet thanks to genetics, no longer having to work thanks to Nan technology and robotics, and even living eternally thanks to cloning. It is inconceivable that retarded beliefs coming from the depth of the Ages continue to make this planet a world of suffering, violence, and darkness as in the Middle Age. It is time for humans to replace monotheism with Science, which should become our only religion. Science is intelligence while monotheism is stupidity and darkness. Science saves lives while monotheism kills. The UN must create a body in charge of censuring the world's religious writings to rid them from incitement to hatred and violence as well as expurgate everything that doesn't respect Human Rights. This does not mean to eliminate religious freedom which is already a part of Human Rights, but to prevent religions that encourage hatred and violence from continuing to be taught to children who can, one day, commit abominable crimes thinking that they are the "instruments of God". The certain level of hatred contained within religious books makes these books more dangerous than firearms because they recommend to use them to kill the "infidel". For monotheistic beliefs to survive a little longer is acceptable in the name of freedom but provided that these beliefs do not give rise to assassinations (from "assassin", Arabic word meaning those who kill the 'infidels') or tragedies such as the one in New York. To prepare the future humanity and make this planet more humane means to decrease the negative influence of monotheism until it completely disappears by itself through a better scientific culture. It is not surprising for the Afghanistan Talebans to forbid television, newspapers, and the Internet. since the more a population is educated the less it is influenced by monotheism. While you read this article, in many Muslim countries, there are people in jail awaiting a death penalty sentence simply because they apostatized the Muslim religion. This is a perfect example of the infringement of Human Rights which guarantee the freedom to change religion. The UN should impose sanctions against countries that do not respect Human Rights. How can we let the UN close their eyes on these crimes? If people understand that the extent to which Islam is taught to them is an incitement to crime and wish to walk away, the UN and the International community should defend them and request their immediate release. Better yet, if these countries refuse to modify their religious texts and their laws in order to comply with Human Rights, the UN should run a campaign to encourage people to apostatize their religion in these countries and help these people find a new refuge. Why should Muslims have the right to build mosques in free and democratic countries and at the same time forbid the building of churches in Muslim countries? Moreover, why are people in Muslim countries who try to convert Muslims liable to jail time? How can we accept the fact that there are Christians today who are put in jail in Muslim countries for trying to spread their faith, as guaranteed by the Human Right's Charter which states that proselytism is a right? If Muslim countries want to be part of the International community, have access to the world economy, to the modern world and to new technologies, we must force them to respect the rules of democratic countries as well as Human Rights. Otherwise, we must sanction them thus putting them in the category of Middle Age societies that they have chosen to be a part of. This is the price we will have to pay if we want the free world to remain free and if we want violence and terrorism to definitely vanish from the face of this Earth. Monotheism is dangerous and responsible for the greatest number of deaths and suffering in all Mankind's history. This must be said and repeated. Science must definitely replace religion and Human Rights must become the only ideology taught in schools. Only then, will this Humanity enter an Era of peace and universal happiness.
