[casi] Iraq - Medical Aid

In response to the query re reliable organisations to donate to for medial
aid to Iraq. Might I suggest Medical Aid for Iraqi Children, 26 Old Brompton
Road, London SW7 3DL. Registered charity no: 1044222 tel: (44) (0) 207 581
2727 fax same prefix then 2767. E-mail:info@maic.org.uk and website:
www.maic.org.uk.

Run by Iraqis they spend just three percent of revenue on overheads and
every box in every container is accounted for, delivered by them and
accounted for again at each hospital.

Now a group of young Iraqis have launched the Hope Foundation (same address)
to address especially the cancers which will certainly rise again after the
feckless use of what UN Sub Committees have three times condemned as weapons
of mass destruction - depleted uranium missiles.

The launch of the Hope Foundation on 11th April at the Commonwealth
Institute in London, is endorsed by Professor Karol Sikora, one of the
world's leading cancer specialists, Dr Mercy Heatley, wife of the last
surviving member of the team which discovered penicillin and Mai Dottori who
heads Medical Aid for Iraqi Children.

The Hope Foundation's Chairman is Taymoor Marmarchi who can be reached at
the above e-mail or (44) (0) 207 431 4469 fax: same but 4170 ending.

The quiet work Mai Dottori has done in extraordinarily complex situations
over the years is remarkable and she has now been joined by some remarkable
and dynamic young people, who deserve any support we can give in money,
volunteers, ideas, input or anything else. Nothing will be wasted.

Best, felicity a.
