The council member escaped injury but the driver was hurt. Mohammed Bahr al-Uloum, a Shiite Muslim cleric, was travelling inside the US-guarded compound, known as the "green zone," when the incident took place. The statement did not give a time for the shooting and US officials at the military press centre said they knew nothing of the incident. The statement said a US officer on the scene expressed his regret over the shooting and apologised to the cleric. _______________________________________________ Sent via the discussion list of the Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq.
