Re: [casi] Andreas: Zarathustra's Prayer Call

Dear Colleagues,
Amid these grim times, may I venture the opinion that as both the UK and the US
teeter on the brink of "friendly fascism" on executive dictatorship, that an
occasional bit of inspiration, clearly labeled,  be tolerated on CASI.

In the U.S. anyway it requires greater and greater courage (or
recklessness) to speak out on any subject in any venue including  at
universities on  even topic even  remotely connected to politics.

. This a a very harsh season, that if you allow me the inspirational phrase
of Tom Pane, "which try men's [and women's] souls. Perhaps some so on this
listserve are strong in their commitment that they have no need for occasional,
clearly identified in the subject line,  inspiration. These extraordinary soul
might tolerate the weakness of their  lessor  colleagues and just hit delete or
set a bozo filter to block such material.

Sincerely but not I hope not  excessively  inspirationally or alamistically,

Tom
Scared enough to be seeking  Canadian citizenship, a country that resembles the
democracy that we were indoctrinated to believe in and which trashes its Bill of
Right at every crisis.

Also, my faculty email may go down at anytime, until I get a faculty email at
MacMaster U. where I'll doing a sabbatical in Peace Studies, please send any
mail to me a nagy@gwu.edu + tom500k@yahoo.com
