Whatever reason the US had/has for detaining these troops isn't nearly the right answer. Whether the story about the turks plotting to kill the Kurdish gov of Kirkuk is true, who really had the right to slice phone wires and raid the headquarters where the soldiers were? Wouldn't that responsibility fall on different hands.. or is the US policing all of Iraq now. Where is the line drawn? Surely the US knew it would cause controversy, like much else.
