Dear Salwa, you write: "I would have thought twice about signing, or at least asked not to have my name included in the online version for the very reason we are now seeing happening, i.e. people simply copying & pasting our names onto other petitions." This has not happened, because it is the same petition. People copied and pasted the petition including the signatures to different discussion sites. I can understand that this is maybe not a correct thing to do, as Anai wrote. But I've seen so many efforts against this war, i've seen so many initiatives appear, and I found it very hopeful: so many people worldwide joining their efforts against this war, demonstrating with 30 million people on the same day. It was never seen before. I tend to trust the peace-movements worldwide. We have to trust each other if we're aiming the same goal. And people can make mistakes, but have they really made a mistake? Your signature has not been used for any other reason than the one it was meant for. You can be sure of that. If your signature has been adopted by different websites, it is combined with the "international peace appeal", and nothing else. Our contacts, and the solidarity worldwide made it possible to translate the appeal in 8 languages. So why shouldn't they adopt the appeal for their own website and distribute it in their countries? I really don't see the problem. And why does the attack come at this moment, when part of the anti-sanctions movement is about to collapse? Is it a coincidence? I wonder. We're all together in this, so we need each other to row against the stream of the Bush empire. If we row alone, we will drown in the sea of the Fourth Reich. If we don't work together, if we don't have a little trust in what peace-movements worldwide are doing, we may as well crawl into our grave. I really congratulate you with the wonderful actions you do in Leiden, Salwa. And I hope I didn't cause you too much trouble. I didn't mean to.
