Dear List, I willingly signed both of Dirk's petitions (September and then a recent one) re Iraq. Whilst I understand absolutely Anai's concerns re political implications - and reading the initial postings wondered whether my name had been used bt others and it wasn't Dirk's petition, my feelings differ a bit. My thoughts are that the situation with Iraq is so historically unique (no governance, US awarding itself contracts, no Ministries - even down to when they apprehend millions of $'s, gold bullion etc, as we are told they have, to whom do they give it? It's Iraq's money, but there's no Min of Finance. Presumably, like humanity's heritage that are the archeological sites and antiquities, they'll be liberated to the US. No accountability, nothing.) The health disaster has been well documented on this list thanks to dedication and sharp eyes, The all is so, so huge and unique. So my feelings are that I care not with whom I am associated, so long as they are legal and pull in the same direction of stopping this madness somehow - as long as I did make the decision to sign in the first place. As others have said, caution in on line petitions is a must, but Dirk's work is tireless and towering, like CASI. For me, so far, what he wishes to do with my signature is fine. I'll yell if I get unhappy. On a different issue but relating to health. I have read a number of items talking of Iraqis and US/UK soldiers suffering appalling rashes (not your average heat, allergy rash, but like burns and a change in the skin pigment) if correct, this is a re-run of one of the early symptoms of Gulf war one and depleted uranium/Gulf war syndrome. And if so, it seems, here we go again, with another generation of UK/US cannon fodder. More deformites and cancers in Iraq. Hope the MOD/DOD have got their new story as sewn up as the new dossier Blair has promised us. The 'Ministry of Truth' strikes back. Written by : Eric Blair aka George Orwell.
