US cuts all contact with Iran, paper reports

The Washington Post newspaper is reporting that the Bush administration
has cut off all contact with Iran. According to the paper, the move is an
attempt to destabilise the government following reports that al Qaeda
members in Iran may have played a role in the recent suicide bombings in
Saudi Arabia. A high-level administration meeting is planned for
Tuesday with Pentagon officials reportedly expected to advocate a popular
uprising to topple the Iranian government. A White House spokeswoman
declined to comment on the report. Last year, President Bush branded Iran
as part of the so-called axis of evil along with Iraq and North Korea.
The White House is also concerned about Iran's nuclear programme.
