[casi] Why did the U.S supply Iraq with bioweapons?

[ Presenting plain-text part of multi-format email ]

Why did the U.S supply Iraq with bioweapons?

During the 1980ies a veritable "witches' brew of pathogens," including anthrax, botulinum toxin and
gangrene biological materials" were exported to Iraq during its war against Iran by the United
States.

These exports continued to at least November 28, 1989 despite the fact that Iraq had been reported
to be engaging in chemical warfare and possibly biological warfare against Iranians, Kurds, and
Shiites since the early 80s.

Amongst these materials the U.S supplied all which produce slow, agonizing deaths, were: Bacillus
Anthracis, cause of anthrax. Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin. Histoplasma
Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord and heart. Brucella Melitensis,
a bacteria that can damage major organs. Clotsridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing
systemic illness. Clostridium tetani, highly toxigenic.

Almost all the biological materials found (and destroyed) by the UNSCOM inspectors came from
biological material shipmed from the U.S.

You may ask, why have no charges have ever been laid in the U.S against those responsible for these
exports. I have no idea, but possibly this may have something to do with the fact that a number of
'these criminally insane' individuals who were responsible for this utter stupidity, now hold
senior positions within the current Bush Administration.
