[casi] Who thrives on this war?

[ Presenting plain-text part of multi-format email ]

All:

Although the 'protesters' have been accused of excusing the brutality of the
Sadaam regime, it is more so the 'right' that supported such brutality as it
benefited them, then gave no thought to killing innocent Iraqi citizens - and
sending US/UK soldiers to die - now that they no longer feel such a regime is
serving their interests in the region. As much as the regime of Sadaam, this
'right' western cabal of people believe that the death of innocent men, women
and children is only 'collateral' damage in their quest for power.

Both the calls of 'support our troops' and 'think of the iraqi people
suffering under Sadaam' are being used to manipulate opinion in their favor.
They don't care about American troops or about Iraqi people. The same
pro-war congress members voted to cut something as basic as health benefits -
never plentiful anyway - for Veterans. Why? Because once they have fulfilled
their use as human shields for political injustice, they are no longer
important.

I really believe all the complaints about the 'brutality' of Sadaam's regime
is just envy. A big dicussion for the UK and the US is how Iraq doesn't obey
the same rules of war that they 'have to' - which means they would like to be
free from criticism to murder at will. They complain that the Iraqi people
aren't welcoming the UK/US invaders because such people are still repressed
by Sadaam - the same people then complain that 'traitors' dare to criticize
the Blair and Bush teams.

The massive hate and bloodshed of this war has aroused the senses of the most
repressive, violent and racist elements within the western societies. It is
as though one has spread blood out in the woods and attracted all manner of
scavengers to get a taste.

Seems to me that you are the one that is being racist. Within the
current administration and including the military there are many blacks
and Arabs.

Most African-Americans have always distrusted the leadership and mainstream media/institutions of
America - and sadly far too many arabs - especially the 'lighter' 'whiter' ones dismissed the
complaints, and accepted the general mainstream "white american" perspective on African-Americans.
They felt that the negative (racist) stereotypes were mostly correct, that the complaints of racism
were largely unjustified - and many quickly agreed with the stereotypes (in part to agree with the
mainstream perspective, as well as a continuation of ideas they already held.)

Yet post 9/11 having allowed many in the maintream American society to find some (false)
justification in their previously quietly held racists views towards Arabs/Muslims, many Arabs have
a better sense of what African-Americans have previously expressed.

Particularly ironic (but positive) is that most African-Americans, because of their already held
understandings and experiences, have are the strongest voices against mistreatment of Arabs, and
the negativity of the U.S. government.
