i accept colin's message as  a plea to maintain a tempred and civilized
discourse on issues, and only that. i too reject the notion that we should
look beyond the current perfidy, for that means a certain acceptance of what
is occurring at this moment, the march to humiliate and dominate a people...i
do not envision that the judgement and wisdom of bush and company will, after
this monstrous war, lead those who are humiliated to sit around campfires in
the ensuing long night and sing kumbaya. the palestinians did not do it after
'67, '69 ,'73, '82 nor now.  it is heartening to see the iraqis, ill-equipped
and beaten by years of brutal sanctions, fight for their dignity. this
predatory and rapacious war must end now.
