[casi] landmines

[ Presenting plain-text part of multi-format email ]

 Hi,
The US is planning to use landmines in the war against Iraq.

 http://www.uscbl.org/news/946_pentagon.htm

To me this seems strange since the US says they want to fight this war under UN mandate. The UN, to
my knowledge, disapproves to use of landmines.

Did the UK sign the treaty on landmines and if so, how can Tony Blair go along with the use of
these mines in the comming war?

I also brought this under the attention of the Dutch Socialist Party and they are planning to put
these questions before the Dutch government. The Netherlands was one of the first counties to sign
the treaty banning these mines.

If anybody has got more information on this or any other subject they think would also be important
for the Dutch parliament, please send it to me.
