[casi] publicity of anomalous birth defects in Iraq needed now

Dear Friends,
The time has come to publicize those photographs of grotesque birth defects
that US/UK imperialism has inflicted on our sisters and brothers in Iraq as
well as on offspring of US/UK veterans, linked to the use of DU.
These photos have to be our posters in the marches and demonstrations. We have
to incorporate the film footage of birth defects in our videos and
documentaries. We have to describe them in detail in our emails and articles.
I know, like you, these visuals have been so disturbing that we have mostly
not wanted to include them into our campaigns. Often the title "not for the
fainthearted" has accompanied emails with these photos attached. But the time
has come for the US/UK's dirty little secret to be revealed.
I recently placed film footage of an Iraqi child born without genitalia in a
documentary. The wound is a wound to all humanity...How dare they?
I have a question: does anyone know there has been a similar rise of birth
defects since the Gulf War downwind from Iraq in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia? I
understand that the public health departments of those countries were not
allowed to speak to the public about health consequences immediately after the
Gulf War; I wonder if that's still the case,
Philippa Winkler
