[ Presenting plain-text part of multi-format email ] JOIN THE VIRTUAL MARCH ON WASHINGTON: REPEAL BUSH'S WAR POWERS TAKE ACTION NOW TO STOP WAR ! 1) FAX OR CALL CONGRESS: On February 25th, local Congressional offices around the US will receive visits from citizens opposed to the war. On February 26th, every Senate office will receive a call every minute from a constituent, as they receive a simultaneous flood of faxes and e- mail. Hundreds of thousands of people from across the country will send the collective message: Don't Attack Iraq. Every Senate switchboard will be lit up throughout the day with our message -- a powerful reminder of the breadth and depth of opposition to a war in Iraq. And on that day, "antiwar rooms" in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles will highlight the day's progress for the national media, while local media can visit the "antiwar room" online to monitor this constituent march throughout the day. To participate, you can: * prepare a free fax for transmission on the day of the march: http://www.truemajority.com/index.asp?action=2467&ms=virt6 * register to make phone calls to Congress on the day of the march below: http://www.moveon.org/winwithoutwar/ 2) URGE SUPPORT FOR HJ RES 20: Many Congressional offices have stated that phone calls from constituents will significantly impact their decision to co-sponsor "HJ Res 20: House Resolution to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002" Sponsors: Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Peter Defazio (OR). Summary: Offers a binding repeal of October use of force resolution. Please take a few minutes TODAY to call, fax, email or visit your Representative and urge the repeal of the White House "mandate" for war. Ask that she or he co-sponsor House Joint Resolution 20. If your Representative is already a sponsor (see list below) call to say thank-you, and ask that she or he keep working diligently against an invasion of Iraq. If you've called before, please call again. If you're too shy to call, please send a fax or an email (fax is better). Be sure to say that you are a constituent and that you vote.
