Subject: [casi] thoughts on the latest media spin

[ Presenting plain-text part of multi-format email ]

Dear List,

A few hours ago, I was interviewed on Fox National News (for those of you
unfamiliar with this station, they are a right-wing, conservative “news”
agency that likes to parade itself as the voice of fairness – they are also
the news service that is watched in the White House). It was the usual
hawkish host interrupting the guest (in this case, me). The important part
of it was that Fox (as other media services have done) has obtained the
first 9 pages of Iraq’s 11,087 pages on its weapons systems. The host was
quoting from those pages as “evidence” that Iraq has weapons of mass
destruction. (My attempts to explain that these are the weapons that have
been destroyed were futile).

A new media spin – using Iraq’s destroyed weapons dossier as “evidence” of
what Iraq has.

All the best,

_Rania Masri
