Dear List, Having been away I am still working through mail, so have only just found this somewhat patronising note from Yasser, who is clealy new to Philippa Winkler, who far from new to Iraqi politics, co-edited what is still one of the finest and most perceptive books on the effects of the Gulf war on Iraq. 'Hidden Casualties - The Environmetal and Political Consequences of the Persian Gulf War' (ARC books/Earthscan UK) isbn 1 85383 164 6. Astonishing for someone so knowledgeable this extraordinarily comprehensive volume has been missed,in current circumstanes, more relevant then ever. Best, felicity a. ---------- >From: "Yasser Alaskary" <ya1980@hotmail.com> >To: "pjw8" <Philippa.Winkler@NAU.EDU>, <anairhoads@myself.com>, "casi-discuss" <casi-discuss@lists.casi.org.uk> >Subject: Re: [casi] Iraq Accepts New UN Resolution on Arms Inspections >Date: Fri, Nov 15, 2002, 9:35 pm > > you're obviously new to iraqi politics. > > history repeats itself. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "pjw8" <Philippa.Winkler@NAU.EDU> > To: <anairhoads@myself.com>; "casi-discuss" <casi-discuss@lists.casi.org.uk> > Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 5:37 PM > Subject: RE: [casi] Iraq Accepts New UN Resolution on Arms Inspections > > >> Dear list, >> Put this incredible response together with the freeing of the prisoners > and >> negotiations with the political opposition in Iraq -- are we witnessing a >> change at the top leadership of Iraq, and how will the US downplay that? >> Philippa Winkler >> >> >> >===== Original Message From anairhoads@myself.com ===== >> >By Irwin Arieff >> > >> >UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Iraq said on Wednesday it accepted a new U.N. >> >Security Council resolution, which orders Baghdad to disarm, cooperate > with >> >U.N. weapons inspectors or face "serious consequences." >> > >> > >> >"I delivered a letter to the secretary-general's office," Iraq's U.N. >> >ambassador Mohammed Aldouri told reporters.
