Former Chief UNSCOM Inspector Scott Ritter will address the Iraqi National Assembly at 3 am Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I don't know if this is east coast US time, or pacific time. CNN will broadcast the speech live. In it, Ritter will undoubtedly make the case that Iraq should accept weapons inspections while acknowledging the Iraqi governments fears that these inspections could lead to espionage or bemanipulated to provide a pretext for invasion. Has any American or Westerner ever addressed the Iraqi National Assembly, never mind one formerly labeled a "spy" and "cowboy." I would guess that the Iraqi government is preparing to follow-up on Ritter's speech with some diplomatic moves meant to undercut the Bush-Blair rush to war by making clear as a bell to the international community that the problem is not Iraq's refusal to accept 'credible' weapons inspections, but the Bush-Blair determination to scuttle them. If someone could make a CD of the speech, that would be great. You never know when these things can come in handy. . . _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com _______________________________________________ Sent via the discussion list of the Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq.
