The Program:


A. From 16/09 till 17/09 (partly funded by Westminster Foundation for
Democracy)

Note: a two-day workshop is organized on Monday 16/09 and Tuesday 17/09 at
Iraq Institute for Democracy. Participants include representatives of Iraqi
Democracy and Human Rights organizations in- and outside the country.

This workshop is by invitation only.

B. From 20/09 till 27/09: one-week democracy festival

Festival Venue: the activities will be organized at Democracy Hall, Iraq
Institute for Democracy, Erbil, and in the Gelkend Park, just opposite the
building of Iraq Institute for Democracy.

In Suleimania and in Duhok the activities will be organized in public parks.

All the festival activities are public.

There is a concert each day. Special places are provided for stands:

·       with information, leaflets, gadgets and t-shirts of Friends for Democracy
·       with information of Iraqi and international organizations that work for
democracy and freedom.


Saturday 21 September

Venue – Democracy Hall, Iraq Institute for Democracy, Erbil
10:00 am – 12:00 pm:
Both activities have to express themes of “Freedom” and “Democracy”
The artists can be Iraqi and international artists

The central theme is “Iraqi Folklore Dresses”

·       This is a Fashion Show of Iraqi Folklore dresses and Modern fashion
dresses using Iraqi Folklore and Tribal patterns, styles, shapes and
materials, both for men and women.
·       To show ethnic dresses of Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Turkomen,
Yezidies,...
·       The whole fashion show will be animated with local traditional music that
corresponds to the national dresses.

Wednesday 25 September
