[ Presenting plain-text part of multi-format email ] Today I found something troubling on CNN and then went to PBS.Org to follow up. James Rubin is beginning a new "news" program today called wide angle. It looks as if it has been conceived to bolster the propaganda and further incite the US population in favor of an invasion of Iraq. Not only does it quote "unnamed" sources, "HIGH ranking defectors from Iraq" but it pulls out all the stops and screams about smallpox, anthrax, SH uses against Kurds, and maybe 'we're next' sorts of propaganda. It even has a poll on the PBS site, following the subterfuge that asks Americans if we should invaded. It looks like it was created by a PR firm to incite americans. BTW, it also repeats the tiredest of inaccuracies, that SH expelled weapons inspectors in 1998. I was hoping that some of you would take the time and write to Rubin and PBS and let them know that this sort of irresponsible 'news' at such a sensitive time is really unacceptable. Also Rubin is a former US state dept. associate as I understand it. Apologies for the poor writing but am pressed for time. Peace!
