U.S. May Launch Nuclear Attacks on Iraq

TEHRAN TIMES POLITICAL DESK
TEHRAN - Head of Pentagon's Commission for Military
Policies, Richard Pearl said that although the U.S.
conventional weapons are much more advanced than those
of Iraq, no strategist would reject the logic of using
nuclear weapons against Iraq.

Also, an advisor to the U.S. defense secretary, Pearl
said in an interview with the German **** Spiegel ***,
on Monday that the exact time of the U.S. attack
against Iraq was not determined.

He added that the Iraqi army has become much weaker
than the time of the Persian Gulf war, saying that the
number of the Iraqi troops has reduced to one-third of
that time.

The U.S. official further said that the United States
would not use its ground forces in war against Iraq,
noting that the U.S. would launch air raids against
Baghdad.
