British Green MEPs condemn bombing and sanctions

STATEMENTS FROM TWO BRITISH GREEN PARTY MEPs (Members of European
Parliament)
Sent to today's demonstration outside Downing Street

Jean Lambert, MEP for London

'We are appalled by the bombing of Iraq and the British Government's
complicity in the action. It risks destabilizing the area. It is not
solution to the plight of the Iraqi peoples.'

Caroline Lucas MEP for the South East of England
(arrested in August in London at the sit-down protest on the 10th
anniversary of the imposition of sanctions)

'The Iraqi people are suffering three times over. Firstly from Saddam's
brutal dictatorship. Second from the sanctions which are devastating the
lives of ordinary people. And third from the bombing by the US and Britain.
We condemn yesterday's bombing of Baghdad.'
