Re: Foreign Office Questions 7.11.00



Why don't the anti-sanctions MPs point out that:
a) Iraq has no direct control over the OFF funds
b) The fact that the programme is being massively
delayed by US /UK holds on vital goods.
The arguement that the sanctions are hurting the
people, and the response that Iraq is responsible for
spending the money on
palaces/whisk(e)y/cigarettes/elephants etc. has been
going around in circles for years.
Why doesn't someone put Hain on the spot with these
irrefutable facts, surely they must be aware of them?
