Wednesday's "Talk of the Nation" (heard nationally on NPR in the US) featured a retrospective on Iraq with guests Denis Halliday and Richard Butler. A link to the recorded audio is below, but its reliability is as disappointing as the program. The host's lack of familiarity with the issue was astounding, as was Butler's needless antagonism (though neither should surprise). Important points of agreement between Halliday and Butler were never articulated. And in the course of (correctly) noting the recent Seymour Hersch article remained controversial, Butler carelessly called a number of unrelated and completely valid points "untrue".
