Dear Friends, The radical journalist John Pilger -- who recently made the important anti-sanctions documentary "Paying the Price: Killing the Children of Iraq" -- is launching a new web site with a wealth of fantastic journalistic material. The web site ("Hidden Agendas: The Films and Writings of John Pilger Online") can be found at either http://www.johnpilger.com or http://www.carlton.com/pilger. To mark the tenth anniversary of sanctions on Iraq (August 6), Pilger will be hosting a live "web chat" discussing the issues surrounding the devastating embargo on Monday, July 31, 2000, at 8 PM (UK Summer time). The main bulk of the site’s material is centered around five of John’s most recent documentaries on Vietnam, East Timor, Burma, Australia, and Iraq, including many clips from the films. The site also includes a continually updated section called "Pilger in Print," containing the vast majority of Pilger's articles since 1998. Pilger's contribution to Iraq Under Siege: The Deadly Impact of Sanctions and War (Cambridge: South End Press; London: Pluto Press, 2000), "Collateral Damage," is also available on the site. (For information on the book, visit http://www.southendpress.org/books/iraq.shtml.) In the United States, copies of "Paying the Price" are now available from: Bullfrog Films, attn: John Hoskyns-Abrahall PO Box 149 Oley, PA 19547 1-800-543-3764 video@bullfrogfilms.com http://www.bullfrogfilms.com Please forward this message to anyone who may be interested.
