Write to papers re: Sponeck, WHO

Write to: letters@independent.co.uk

Yesterdays UK Independent had an article and picture of Von Sponeck (15 Feb,
p.16).

No time to reproduce it all, but James Rubin is quoted as saying:

"I think an article in the Iraqi press praising his approach is ample
evidence of his unsuitability for the post".

It also repeats the line that "food and medicines have never been included
in the embargo", and the UK govt line that "the sanctions would end the
moment Iraq satisfied UN demands that it account for all its weapons of mass
destruction".

I also saw a 'World in brief' bit in today's (16th) Times that the head of
the WHO in Iraq has also resigned over the effects of sanctions. May be
worth checking out the other papers for more news on this.

Cheers,
Glenn Bassett.
