RABAT, Sept. 27 - Iraqi Vice-President Taha Yassin Ramadan arrived in
Morocco for a short visit to deliver a message from President Saddam Hussein
to King Mohammed, officials said on Monday.
They said Ramadan flew into Morocco on Sunday, a day before the start
of a visit by a British group headed by labour MP George Galloway who is
campaigning in support of Iraqis.
A bus carrying Galloway and his team arrived at the northern Moroccan
port of Tangiers on Monday, from where it is expected to head to Algeria. It
was not immediately known if Ramadan would meet Galloway in Morocco.
Galloway's group has already toured Britain, France and Spain. It is
expected to visit several Arab countries before arriving in Baghdad next
month.
Rabat sent a small contingent in support of the U.S.-led military
coalition that ousted Iraqi troops from Kuwait in 1991. But it had
repeatedly called for the lifting of crippling U.N. sanctions against Iraq
since then.
