Dear Friends, Legal action is being planned against the Canadian government. Specifically, the group will seek "an injunction against the Canadian Government's continued compliance with the present method of implementing sanctions. Such legal action would not be intended to try to bring criminal charges against Canadian, or other national or international political figures, or to attempt to negate sanctions against the supply to of militarily strategic materials to the Government of Iraq, but rather to address any complicity on the part of Canada in the imposition of any and all restrictions on the supply of food and humanitarian goods to the people of iraq as constituting involvement in an overt act of genocide." Such action would be initiated by and through a non profit humanitarian organization to be incorporated in Canada under the name "Save the Iraq Children Peace Action Committee." Here's the request: Hugh Duxbury, of this association, wants to find out if there have been *ANY* other legal action against governments (or the like) on the issue of the sanctions against Iraq. In the UK? Elsewhere in Europe? Anywhere? If you know of any information, please contact Hugh at: TEL: 403.246.4153 FAX: 403.246.4266 E-mail: maghreb.eng@home.com Thank you, -Rania Masri -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a discussion list run by the Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq.
