NINTH ANNIVERSARY OF SANCTIONS: 1) INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION (GLOBAL) 2) A FAST FOR LIFE (LONDON) Dear All INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION At a recent meeting of the National Coordinating Meeting of the anti-sanctions-movement in Britain, it was decided to propose an international day of action against sanctions on the ninth anniversary of the imposition of comprehensive economic sanctions against Iraq. The National Coordinating Meeting is serviced by voices in the wilderness uk and CASI, the Cambridge-based student network, and brings together over thirty groups and individuals around Britain. Please disseminate this proposal as widely as possible. We would be grateful if you could also notify us if you are intending to take action, of whatever kind, on that date. For our recent National Day of Action against Sanctions, groups around Britain held street stalls, engaged in postal sanctions-breaking, showed videos about the humanitarian crisis in Iraq, and leafleted in the streets. Please notify either CASI or voices uk about your plans for 9 August. FAST FOR LIFE On 6 August, there will be a FAST FOR LIFE in London, lasting until 9 August, organised by voices in the wilderness uk and ARROW, a nonviolent direct action group based in London. For further information about the FAST FOR LIFE, please contact voices in the wilderness uk.
