Extracts from a letter from the Emergency Committee on Iraq, organised by George Galloway MP: "'Farewell to Mariam' - Public meeting 7:30pm, Monday 12th October 1998 Westminster Central Hall, Storey's Gate, Westminster, London. (Nearest Tube Stations: Westminster and St. James's Park) Mariam [brought to the UK from Iraq for medical treatment by the Emergency Committee] is making such a successful recovery [from leukaemia] that she will soon be able to return home to Iraq. Before she does, we are organising a very large public meeting on Monday 12th October... for all well-wishers to say farewell. ... I have invited to speak at this event Tony Benn MP, Tam Dalyell MP and Felicity Arbuthnot... Mariam will also say a few words. In order to make this a first class send-off for Mariam, I would urge you to make every effort to attend and show your concern for Mariam, and send a message of support to the suffering people of Iraq." -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a discussion list run by Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq.
